What Is Inflammation? Acute and Persistent Responses

Inflammation is part of the body's response to injury or infection. The US National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences explains that this response can support healing, while inflammation that persists or affects healthy tissue can be damaging.

What Does Acute Mean?

Acute describes a short-term response. The classroom animation uses a defence-system analogy to explain how immune cells respond to an injury or infection and help clear damaged material.

The analogy simplifies a complex process. It is not a way to diagnose yourself or decide which treatment a symptom needs.

What Changes When It Persists?

Inflammation that fails to resolve can continue for a long time. Its causes and consequences depend on the condition. Naming the process does not identify the cause or supply a universal solution.

It is also a different term from oxidative stress. Research may discuss both, but they should not be treated as interchangeable labels.

What Can a Hydrogen Study Tell You?

A paper may measure a particular marker in a defined study population. To assess it, check who took part, how hydrogen was delivered, the comparison group and whether the measured change translated into a meaningful outcome.

A change in a marker does not establish that Hhuhu treats inflammation. The Singapore product is a hydrogen-water machine; its product specifications do not demonstrate a clinical result.
